University of Notre Dame head coach Ara Parseghian, football player and coach who guided Notre Dame to national championships in 1966 and 1973.
Coach Parseghian passed away August 2, 2017. Ara together with his son Mike and daughter-in-law Cindy founded the Ara Parseghian Medical Research foundation in 1994. The foundation is seeking a cure for Niemann Pick Type C a genetic disorder affecting children resulting in death. Three of his grandchildren, Michael, Marcia, and Christa Parseghian, died from the horrific disease.
How does a couple survive three of their four children being stricken by a neurological disorder that eats away their body, transforming them into invalids fed from tubes and incapable of speaking?
The Parseghian’s turned their children’s death sentence into a celebration of life! They have raised over 40 million and fund many labs over the past 20 plus years!
