Breaking Wind needed a new sole. The old sole was delaminating from an excess of moisture that remains in the bilge. What to do, what to do. Well, lets change it up, and see how that goes.

Rather then the traditions method to run the board lengthwise, Stern to Bow, maybe try to use the supports and get a solid foot on all four sides of separate panels. With the stern to bow method, you cut out the center part to access the bilge, thus weakening the panels. Then you try to attache some supports underneath.

The next tricky part is material that will not delaminate with the moisture from the bilge. So, I used West Systems two part epoxy on the edges to seal them up. Several coats later, they should be solid.

Next, rather then go with the traditional Teak/Holly look how about warmth for those bare feet?  So, indoor/outdoor reclaimed plastic in the form of carpet panels.

The carpet panels have sticky stripes, but they refuse to stick to the paint I used. So, some additional adhesive was used to adhere them.

On to the next project, run new halyards through the mast 🙂
